North Vietnam · 15 expeditions

Karst country, cold ridges, and the highest passes in Vietnam.

Northern Vietnam is mountain country. Above 1,500 m, the air thins, the fog rolls in, and the road bends through limestone karst that looks more like Guilin than Indochina. We've been riding the North since 2014 — Ha Giang's Ma Pi Leng pass, Cao Bang's border valleys, the Northwest's Ta Xua ridge, the cold pine plateau of Sin Ho. Every northern expedition is led by a guide born in these mountains.
