The Experience

Tribal Craft & Cuisine Days is a focused cultural program for travelers who want to learn with their hands. Instead of moving quickly between viewpoints, the route slows down around two living systems: food and craft. Guests shop in local markets, cook with host families, learn basic textile or bamboo work, see how indigo, herbs, rice, corn, smoke, fire, and fermentation shape daily life, and leave with context rather than souvenirs alone. Every workshop depends on the host community, season, and what is appropriate to share.

Day by Day

The route, unfiltered.

01
Travel + market + cooking

Hanoi → Market ingredients → Family kitchen

Hanoi · local market · host village
Morning transfer from Hanoi toward the selected host community. Stop at a local market with the guide and host contact to buy herbs, greens, rice, meat, tofu, spices, and seasonal ingredients for the first meal. Arrive at the host home for tea and etiquette briefing, then begin a practical cooking session: washing vegetables, preparing rice, learning fire control, dipping sauces, and household-style dishes. Dinner is eaten with the family, with the guide translating food stories and boundaries around photography.
02
Full day workshop

Textile, indigo, bamboo, or herbal craft day

Craft house · village lanes · host family home
The craft day depends on the community and season: indigo dyeing, brocade weaving, bamboo work, herbal bath preparation, rice-paper snacks, corn wine process, or smoked-food preparation. The focus is on process, not a staged souvenir lesson. Guests learn where materials come from, what can be handled respectfully, and how long real craft takes. Afternoon includes a short village walk to understand fields, plants, or workspaces connected to the craft. Dinner returns to the kitchen with a second family recipe.
03
Workshop + transfer

Cuisine morning · Farewell meal · Return Hanoi

Host village · Hanoi
A final hands-on morning built around one signature dish or preservation method: sticky rice, mountain herbs, smoked pork, bamboo shoots, pickled greens, or market noodles depending on the host. Prepare a farewell lunch together, pack any appropriate handmade item or recipe notes, then return to Hanoi with a debrief on respectful buying, photo sharing, and how to support host artisans after the trip.

Who This Is For

Honest filters. No fluff.

Skill

No cooking or craft experience required. Guests should be willing to learn slowly, follow host instructions, and accept that some processes can only be observed.

Fitness

Easy. Mostly kitchen, workshop, market, and village walking with some standing and simple handwork.

Mindset

Curious, patient, respectful, and hands-on. This is not a performance class; it is learning inside a real household and craft rhythm.
