Do I need riding experience?

Yes — but not racing pedigree. You should be confident on a manual 250cc+ bike, comfortable standing on the pegs, and have done at least some dirt or gravel riding before. We're honest: this is not the trip to learn on. If you've only ridden scooters in the city, talk to us first. We'll tell you the truth and may suggest a softer route. The goal is for you to enjoy the ride, not survive it.

What happens in bad weather?

Weather is part of the expedition — fog, cold, occasional rain. We plan around the dry windows of each region and build a buffer day into every itinerary. If a pass is genuinely unsafe (landslide, flooding, zero visibility), we reroute or rest. Your guide makes the call every morning. We've never had to cancel a full expedition — only adapt one.

As safe as expedition riding gets. Two guides on every trip — a senior lead and a sweep mechanic at the back. A 4x4 support vehicle follows the primary route carrying luggage, spare parts, and a backup bike. Satellite communicator on remote sections. Pre-trip bike fitting and a daily morning briefing. Every guide is trained in wilderness first-aid. We ride at the group's slowest pace — no one is left behind.

What if I travel solo?

Most of our riders come solo. Groups are capped at 6, so you're not lost in a crowd — you'll know everyone by day two. We pair solo riders into shared rooms with the same gender by default, or you can pay a single supplement for a private room. The shared kitchen tables, the long passes, the homestay dinners — these are where strangers become friends. Solo on paper. Never alone on the road.

What gear do I need to bring?

We provide the bike, helmet, body armor (knee + elbow), waterproof jacket and over-pants, tank bag, and dry bags. You bring your own off-road boots (mid-calf minimum), thermal base layers, personal medication, headlamp, and camera. A full packing list is sent the moment you're confirmed. If you don't have boots, we can source a pair locally — just let us know your size at booking.

How physically demanding is it?

Honestly demanding. Five to seven hours in the saddle most days, at altitudes up to 2,100m, sometimes in cold or rain. Expect to push your bike through mud or across a stream at least once. If you can comfortably hike six hours with a daypack, you have the baseline fitness. We schedule rest days around the hardest sections. Come in shape — your body will thank you on day eight.

Can I bring a passenger or non-rider partner?

Yes. Non-riders travel in the 4x4 support vehicle on the same route, stay at the same lodgings, eat the same meals. Many couples do exactly this — one rides, one shoots photos and reads a book through the passes. Reach out and we'll quote a non-rider rate.

What's the cancellation and refund policy?

A 30% deposit holds your spot. Cancel 60+ days before departure: full refund minus a small admin fee. 30–60 days: 50% refund. Under 30 days: deposit forfeited but transferable to a future expedition within 18 months. We strongly recommend travel insurance with adventure-sport coverage — we can recommend providers.
