Hoi An Ancient Town was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in December 1999. Hoi An was the largest seaport of Vietnam and South East Asia in 17th and 18th century, at this time, almost goods were exchanged and sold from Europe, China and Japan. Chinese and Japanese came and lived here, their culture interfered with local culture to create Hoi An special culture which is expressed as architechture, culture, cuisine and life style.
